Lander University hosted a luncheon recently for executives of The Abney Foundation and the scholarship recipients who benefit from the Foundation's financial gifts.

Approximately 50 Lander students received scholarship assistance through The Abney Foundation for the 2017-2018 academic year. "The Abney Foundation has been supporting Lander students for many years, and we're so thankful for their extraordinary generosity," said Lander University President Richard Cosentino.

The luncheon was an opportunity for scholarship recipients to meet and talk with Foundation vice chairman and executive director David King and retired executive director Carl Edwards on a one-on-one basis.

With offices in Anderson, The Abney Foundation was established in 1957 as a private grant-making organization with a primary focus on higher education. Since its creation, the Foundation has awarded over $32 million to more than 14,000 students across South Carolina.
