Services Planned for Anderson Co. Deputy and Former LUPD Officer Devin Hodges

Devin HodgesThe family of Anderson County Sheriff's Deputy and former Lander University Police Officer Devin Hodges will receive friends Monday, June 5, at the Anderson Civic Center from 6 p.m.- 9 p.m. The Civic Center is located at 3027 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd, Anderson, SC 29625.

Funeral services for Deputy Hodges will be held at the Civic Center on Tuesday, June 6, at 1 p.m., followed by a processional to the Oak Brook Cemetery, on U.S. 25 in Greenwood, where Hodges will be laid to rest.

"Those who are not able to attend the funeral service in Anderson can also show support by lining up along the procession route to the cemetery," said Eddie Briggs, Chief of Police at Lander. "The funeral procession is estimated to arrive at the cemetery around 5:30 p.m."

Deputy Hodges was killed in a boating accident last week during a training exercise on Lake Hartwell for the Anderson County Sheriff's Office. He leaves behind a wife, Krystal, and four children.

Before joining the sheriff's office in January, Hodges served Lander for two years as a police officer with the Lander University Police Department. He had remained in close contact with many of our officers and dispatchers.

Memorial Fund and Recognition
The "Deputy Devin Hodges Memorial Fund" has been created to benefit the family of Deputy Hodges. Contributions can be made in person or by mail at any Park Sterling Bank location.

In recognition of Deputy Hodges's commitment to protecting others, South Carolina Governor Henry McMaster has requested that the U.S. flag be flown at half-staff from dawn until dusk on Tuesday in memory of Deputy Hodges.

Also, Deputy Hodges' (B-32) patrol vehicle has been placed on the front lawn of the Anderson County Sheriff's Office for those wishing to visit, pay their respects, or leave memorials.
