Finalists Announced in Lander University Presidential Search

The Lander University Presidential Search Committee today announced that it has identified three finalists for the position as the university's 13th chief executive officer.

"We are extremely pleased with the caliber of candidates who applied for this position, and we are confident that the finalists selected possess the diverse skills, proven experience and passion for higher education necessary to lead Lander University in its next chapter," said Jack Lawrence, chair of the Lander University Board of Trustees and member of the 12-person presidential search committee. "This is a fantastic group of individuals, and we now look forward to having them on campus for an opportunity to interact with Lander and Greenwood constituents."

The three candidates will visit the Lander University campus between Feb. 19 and Feb. 22 to meet with a variety of stakeholder groups, including faculty, staff, students, alumni and community representatives, and to interview with the Board of Trustees. Each visit will also include a Meet-and-Greet session open to the community, providing an opportunity for the public to meet each finalist. These sessions will take place 5:15-6:15 p.m., on the upper-level bridge in the Grier Student Center, on the following dates: Feb. 19, with Dr. Marc D. Miller; Feb. 20, with Dr. Richard E. Cosentino; and Feb. 21, with Dr. Ellen J. Neufeldt.

After the campus visits are completed and the finalists have been thoroughly vetted, the Board of Trustees will then make the decision on a final selection for the position.

The university began a nationwide presidential search last fall, following current President Daniel Ball's announcement of his intentions to retire in June, bringing to a close his 15-year tenure at the university's helm. The executive search firm of Coleman Lew + Associates, of Charlotte, N.C., assisted the search committee and Board of Trustees in identifying and selecting qualified potential candidates.
