Lander Students Inducted into Alpha Chi to Recognize Outstanding Academic Achievement

Graduating Lander University seniors, 38 in all, gather after ceremonies in which they were inducted into the university's chapter of Alphi Chi National Honor Scholarship Society.

Family and friends gathered at Lander University on April 21 to witness the spring induction of 38 students into Lander's chapter of the Alpha Chi National College Honor Scholarship Society. The inductees are graduating seniors in the top 10 percent of their class.

When it was chartered in 1957, Lander's Alpha Chi was the first chapter established in South Carolina. Nationwide, over 400,000 members have been inducted into the honor society since its beginning in 1922.

At the ceremony, each student was presented an Alpha Chi cord by deans or other representatives of Lander's four colleges.

The 2014 inductees are:

Sarah Dean, of Greenwood; Grace Halsey, of Hodges; Jennifer Ivey, of Rock Hill; Anna Jones, of Iva; Christopher Long, of Saluda; Nancy Luna, of Walhalla; Mary Robinson, of West Union; Stephen Sanders, of Greenwood; Danielle Tavernier, of Simpsonville; Megan Taylor, of Leesville; and Haley Wallace, of Greenwood.

COLLEGE OF BUSINESS AND PUBLIC AFFAIRS---Kierra Brown, of North Charleston; Craig Crawley, of Starr; Rebecca Gibson, of North Augusta; Shawaunna Middleton, of Johns Island; and Rebecca Yarbrough, of Greenwood.
