Community Invited to Lander’s Bearcat Fan Day Celebration

Bearcat with topiaryLander University will hold its annual Bearcat Fan Day in Uptown Greenwood on Thursday, June 19, from 5:30 to 8 p.m. The festivities will take place in the shadow of the university's 11-foot tall Bearcat topiary near Countybank Plaza, on Main Street.

Assistant Alumni Affairs Director Debbie Dill said Fan Day is part of Greenwood's Uptown Live concert series and the 47th Annual Festival of Flowers. "We invite the community to join us and share in the celebration."

Dill added there will be free food and beverages, activities for children hosted by Lander cheerleaders, prize giveaways and live entertainment featuring Brown Sugar Substitute. Youngsters can also have their photos taken with the Bearcat, Lander's mascot.

This will be the fifth year that the Bearcat topiary has been part of the Festival of Flowers' topiary display. Dill emphasized that Bearcat Fan Day is a celebration that gives people an opportunity to learn more about the university, its academic programs and athletics. The event is free and open to the public.
