Lander Presents Academic Awards to Top Military Scholars

More than 50 Lander University students were recently honored for their scholastic accomplishments during the 2013-14 academic year, receiving the top academic discipline and special awards from the university's four colleges. The awards were presented during Lander's annual Academic Awards ceremony, held at the conclusion of the spring semester.

LANDER ROTC/MILITARY AWARDS:

  • Col. James A. Lander Award - Jonathan Walter Smith, of Laurens. The award is presented to the outstanding senior ROTC cadet who has demonstrated moral character, high military and general academic standing, extracurricular involvement and leadership qualities.
  • Lt. Col. Walter Roark Award - Benjamin Lloyd Woodbury, of Scott AFB, Ill. The award is presented to the junior ROTC cadet who has demonstrated a high degree of proficiency in military science and in overall academic studies, and who exemplifies high qualities of leadership, devotion to duty and patriotism.
