Lander University’s Wellness Center celebrated the conclusion of its Everyday Challenge with a 5K (3.1 mile) walk/run around campus on Tuesday, April 21. Approximately 440 Lander students, faculty and staff signed up for the event. The participants were showered with handfuls of multicolored dyed cornstarch at checkpoints along the route.

Four Lander University graduates who received their degrees within the last five years have pooled together sums of money and established a scholarship at Lander. It is called The Suitcase of Courage Scholarship, a $10,000 endowed fund that will be open to qualified Lander business students.

Lander University will conduct its spring commencement on Saturday, May 2, and it will be a historic occasion, marking Dr. Daniel Ball’s final graduation ceremony as Lander president. The ceremony will be held in the university's Finis Horne Arena at 11 a.m.

“Freedom and Empowerment” is the theme of the Lander University Dance Company’s performance on Monday, April 20, in the Josephine B. Abney Cultural Center Auditorium, beginning at 8 p.m. The event is open to the public free of charge, although donations will be accepted.

Students at Lander University will benefit from a new scholarship established by the Greenwood Council of Garden Clubs. Students who are Greenwood County residents and have academic interests in environmental or botanical sciences will be eligible for scholarship awards.

Lander University's Equestrian Center will host Bearcat Therapeutic Riding Demonstration Day on Saturday, April 18, from 9 a.m.-12 p.m. The event, which is free and open to the public, will be held at Lander equestrian's covered arena on the campus of the Burton Center, located at 2611 Hwy. 72/221 E.
