

A scholarship honoring jazz great Bix Beiderbecke has been established at Lander University.


Nearly 30 years elapsed between the time that Teresa Pack of Plum Branch received her high school diploma and earned a bachelor's degree from Lander University. But she had little trouble keeping pace with much younger students. In fact, she had the highest academic standing of all of her classmates when she graduated in May with a degree in business administration with an accounting emphasis.


When Lander University's Equestrian Center staff reported to work on May 24, they discovered that the number of horses on the property had grown by one.


Lander University sociology majors Brian Mattison of Greenville and Mallory Wasik of Melrose, Fla., have been awarded the Maybelle Coleman Scholarship, honoring Dr. Maybelle Coleman, professor emeritus and former professor and academic dean at Lander.


Lander University political science major Christopher Ty Grogan of Greenwood has been selected to receive the Bill and Emily Bradford Scholarship, honoring the late J. William and Emily Bradford.


Three Lander University business administration majors have been selected to receive the R. Thornwell Dunlap Jr. Scholarship.


During a recent event at Lander University's Cambridge Hall, the Greenwood-Lander Performing Arts board of directors celebrated the completion of another performance season and welcomed new board members.

A recent Lander University nursing graduate has created a scholarship to express her gratitude to a nursing professor who, she said, made a difference in her life.


The beneficiary was a day care center, where Lander students painted classrooms, hallways and doors; sorted clothes, toys and other items donated by the community; and satisfied a safety requirement by spreading mulch across a playground the length of a football field.
