Role of the Orientation Leader (OL)
To serve as a positive role model while assisting new and transfer students in their adjustment to Lander University.
Qualifications for Selection
-
The ability to serve as a positive role model for new students.
- Leadership potential and the willingness to accept responsibility.
- Good interpersonal skills and sensitivity to the diverse backgrounds of our campus community.
- Genuine interest in helping and sharing your experiences with new students.
- Good academic and conduct standing with the University.
- An enthusiasm for the orientation program, a willingness to be friendly, and an expectation that the experience will be fun!
Once selected, Orientation Leaders will be expected to:
- Serve as good role models, must be in good standing with the University both academically and conduct, have at least a 2.5 GPA
- Must exhibit positive behaviors to staff, students, and family members. (Behaviors to include but not limited to caring, enthusiastic, courteous, cooperative and approachable.)
- During summer training and Orientation, Orientation Leaders are to be available and refrain from working both on and off campus.
- Orientation Leaders MUST be available to attend:
- First Meeting (Virtual): November 10, 2020 at 3:30 pm
- Spring Training Sessions: Tuesdays from 4:00 pm-8:00 p.m. during the spring 2021 semester. The first session begins on Tuesday, January 12.
- Orientation Retreat: January 29-31, 2021
- SROW: TBA
- Summer Orientation Review and Prep
- All summer Orientation sessions
- June 22-24
- June 28-29
- July 19-22
- August dates (TBD)
- Assist with other duties as assigned.

- Application review: October 8-9.
- Group Interviews: October 12-16
- Individual Interviews: October 19- 23
- Hire Letters will go out via email by October 27
- Acceptance Letters due: October 30
