Semester Abroad Recommendations

Fall Or Spring Semester - Study At Winchesterstudent in london

Lander has a special agreement with the University of Winchester which allows our students to study at UW for just a little more than the cost of a semester at Lander. Study abroad scholarships are also available.

The University of Winchester is a small university of about 5,500 students. Sixty-nine Lander students have studied at UW since the fall of 2006.

Winchester itself is a small city approximately 65 miles southwest of London. It is one of the oldest cathedral cities in England. It was the capital city for Saxon and Norman kings, and was the center of King Alfred's Wessex. Jane Austen lived and wrote near here, and she is buried in Winchester Cathedral.

Other Fall And Spring Opportunities

In addition to Winchester, Lander has agreements with the Universidad de Alicante and Tandem Escuela Internacional in Spain; with the Universidad del Pacífico in Chile, with the Institut Européen de Français and Langue Onze in France, and with the University of the Aegean in Greece.

You may also wish to consider the numerous programs offered by our "third-party providers" listed above.

There are many other third-party providers that may offer programs of interest to various students. Lander will consider approving specific programs on a case-by-case basis. Lander approval is required before a student's financial aid can be applied to the cost of the program.

Spring Break & Summer Study Tours

Lander faculty members often lead groups of students on study tours. Each study tour offers Lander academic credit. Pre-tour lectures and a post-tour paper may be required.

Summer Schools in England and Scotland

Consider the summer programs offered by our four "third-party providers" listed above. In addition, the following opportunities for summer study at institutions in England and Scotland are recommended:

Lander students of high academic standing (3.4 or higher GPA) are encouraged to consider one of these programs. Please meet with the Director of Study Abroad who will assist you in choosing the program that best fits your needs and interests.

Lander students who are interested in any of these summer opportunities should review the referenced information and then contact the Director of Study Abroad at studyabroad@lander.edu.
