A Special Note To Students And Parents

Lander University assumes that students who wish to study abroad are responsible individuals who can conduct themselves appropriately and manage their own affairs while traveling with a faculty-led study tour or while studying at an institution in another country. Each participating student must sign a liability release form releasing Lander University and its representatives from legal responsibility during their study abroad activities. Each student must also sign a code of conduct form. Lander study abroad legal forms (PDF).

The university requires that each student have insurance that covers major medical expenses and which provides repatriation expenses in case of an emergency. We recommend the policy available from Cultural Insurance Services International that costs $34/month (the cost is higher for students over 25 years old). CISI insurance is included in the cost of each summer study tour.

Study abroad programs usually involve expenses in addition to the regular expenses associated with attending Lander University. Students must also provide their own airfare to and ground transportation within their host countries. Additional personal travel or touring will incur additional expense.
