The mission of the Academic Success Center is to support the academic goals of each Lander student and faculty by providing free enhanced services in tutoring, advising, and testing accommodations reflecting current "best practices" in a welcoming environment.
The Student Wellness Center of Lander University is the point of initial contact for all students with disabilities. The Disabilities Coordinator notifies the faculty of the appropriate accommodations for both the classroom as well as for testing, assures that students receive the necessary physical accommodations based on their medical condition, and stores all documentation relevant to students' disabilities. All accommodations are implemented according to ADA regulations.
The Academic Success Center provides required testing accommodations for students with disabilities based on the students’ accommodations provided by the Student Wellness Center.
For placement testing, accommodations will be made for physically disabled students or those with certified learning disabilities. Students must first coordinate with the Director of Disability Services to set up these accommodations. After approval, you must coordinate with your professors and the Testing Coordinator, Dana Long, to utilize these accommodations.
Students with disabilities must contact:

The Academic Success Center provides academic advising to a variety of special population students. The ASC also works with all first-year students to clarify their educational goals and offer academic and social direction.
Free tutoring for almost every subject is offered in the Academic Success Center. Our tutors have all received A’s in the specific class they tutor, are recommended by faculty members, and are interviewed thoroughly by our Tutoring and Supplemental Instruction Coordinator, Abby Pilgrim. You can schedule your tutoring appointment through MyWCOnline.
The Academic Success Center also offers Peer Assisted Study Sessions (PASS) for groups of students to collaborate together with a peer leader and get the most out of their study sessions. PASS is a pre-planned event each week in the Academic Success Center.
A cumulative 3.0 GPA with at least 30 credit hours earned per year is required to renew LIFE Scholarships. Lander provides information and assistance to help students maintain satisfactory academic progress.
