At Lander University, we're focused on helping you succeed.

Welcome to Lander University. We know that you have what it takes to succeed and earn a college degree. I’d like to share what we have learned about how students succeed at Lander.

First, successful students work hard. They complete readings and assignments, attend classes, and study for exams. They also understand that sometimes college will be difficult. But when things are difficult, they will keep working hard.

Second, successful students also seek help when they need it. Lander’s faculty are here to help you learn. They are happy to meet with you during their office hours and at other times to answer your questions and provide other assistance you might need.

Third, successful students also take advantage of other support the university provides. For example, free tutors at the Academic Success Center and Writing Center are available to help you with your classes. Research has shown that students who seek such support are more likely to graduate. Successful students also seek support in other ways, such as meeting with Academic Advisors, Financial Aid counselors, or Wellness Center staff when needed.

Fourth, successful students become part of the campus community. They may attend campus events, participate in activities, play in intramurals, find employment on campus as a student worker, and/or join a student organization. Successful students choose different paths for joining our community, but they all seek to make connections.

In closing, I know that you can succeed. I look forward to seeing you on campus and to applauding as you walk across the stage to graduate at commencement.
