Lander University has been Greenwood’s four-year college since 1904, and on Monday, Sept. 15, Greenwood residents and the Lander community will receive an update on the university during President Dan Ball’s State of the University Address at 4 p.m. in the Cultural Center Auditorium.
As Ball challenges students, faculty and staff to make the academic year a time of intellectual and personal growth, he will also discuss academic programs, student support programs and building initiatives.
During the convocation, Lander will award a Medallion of Honor to Scott Moore Smith, Baptist Collegiate Minister, who has served Lander students, faculty and staff for 23 years. The Medallion is reserved for those who have contributed significantly of their time, talents and energies in support of the university.
In addition, Lander, on behalf of the U.S. Green Building Council, will be recognized for LEED® Certification for Centennial Hall, the university’s eco-friendly, 300-bed residence hall.
