PLACEMENT TESTING –Accommodations will be made for physically disabled students or those with certified learning disabilities. Students who require accommodations should call the Academic Success Center at (864) 388-8317 to make arrangements.
COURSE SUBSTITUTIONS –Certain disabilities can interfere with a student’s successful completion of a course (e.g. foreign language and math courses). Appropriate documentation from a medical provider that specifically addresses an accommodation for an identified disability is required. Course substitutions cannot be permitted if the course is determined essential to a student’s major. See page 7 of the Students with Disabilities Handbook for more details about this accommodation.
LIAISON WITH FACULTY –The Lander University Wellness Center will communicate with faculty on behalf of the student to assure reasonable accommodations. Permission from the student is required. Students are urged to contact the Student Wellness Center at the beginning of each semester to request an appointment.
Last minute coursework and schedule changes can result in a delayed notification of faculty about student accommodations. To avoid this problem, students should make certain that they contact the Student Wellness Center with those changes.
A faculty/staff handbook from the Office of Student Disabilities is available in a printer-friendly document.
