IHSA & Competition
The Lander Equestrian Team competes in the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA); which has sanctioned events and shows across the Southeast. Riders who ride Hunt Seat will compete in Hunt Seat Equitation on the Flat and over Fences. Western Riders will compete in Western Horsemanship and Reining. The regular season shows are within Zone 5 Region 3, with shows being hosted at different schools throughout the season.
Coach Lehman will choose riders to compete based on how each rider is performing at home and based on the number of rides we are allowed for each competition. All rider’s will need to be available to be chosen to compete and will be told the final list of riders for the competition 2 weeks prior to the date of the competition. When that list is out the chosen riders will then pay show fees.
Riders will compete on their level of experience in classes that include:
-Advanced Horsemanship -Novice Horsemanship
-Intermediate Horsemanship -Walk/Trot or Jog Horsemanship
Riders will compete in classes in their level, which include:
-Open Eq. Over Fences -Open Eq. on the Flat
-Intermediate Eq. Over Fences -Intermediate Eq. on the Flat
