Lander to offer Chinese language course in April

Applications are being accepted for a Chinese language course offered as part of Lander University's Continuing Education program. Conversational Chinese for Beginners will be taught by Wei Zhang, a visiting scholar from Shanghai Normal University in China, who is an intern in Lander's Office of Student Affairs.

Continuing Education coordinator Shelley Grund said the course is designed for beginners to improve their ability to speak, write and read Chinese. It will include highly useful conversational Chinese at the beginning of each class and basic written skills emphasizing the strokes and rules of thumb for writing Chinese characters.

Classes will be held on Mondays and Wednesday from 6 to 7:30 p.m., for four weeks beginning April 2. Registration is limited to 15 and the fee for the course is $50.
