Lander Chamber Strings to have concert Dec. 9

The Lander University Chamber Strings will wrap up the fall semester with a concert Friday, Dec. 9, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 501 E. Creswell Avenue in Greenwood. The performance will begin at 7:30 p.m. and is free and open to the public.

Under the direction of Adam Alter, Lander adjunct professor of music, the ensemble will present several holiday pieces to celebrate the season, including the traditional favorites "Deck the Hall" and "Silent Night, Holy Night."

Also slated to be performed are "Four Royal Dances," by Eric Ewazen; Allegro from Antonio Vivaldi's "Concerto for Two Violins in A minor, Op. 3;" Minuets I and II from J.S. Bach's "Suite No. 1 in G major;" "Capriol Suite" by Peter Warlock; "Brook Green Suite" by Gustav Holst; and selections from the "Suite of Carols," arranged by Leroy Anderson.

Featured student soloists for the concert will be Mariaha Randolph and Jessica Tenney, both on violin, and Sarah Morris on cello.
