Lander Chamber Strings Ensemble Open to Community Members

September 11, 2014

Lander University’s Chamber Strings Ensemble has issued an invitation to community members to join the group.

Lecturer of Music Amy Blackwood said the ensemble welcomes individuals with backgrounds in strings, those who have studied violin, viola, cello or bass in private lessons or who have played a string instrument in an orchestra.

The group meets Monday evenings from 5:15 to 6:45 in the Josephine B. Abney Cultural Center at Lander. Pawel Kozak is the director of the ensemble. He is a violin and viola instructor at Presbyterian College and performs regularly with orchestras and chamber groups throughout the Southeast.

Blackwood said interested string musicians should contact her by Sept. 22 and provide a brief description of their music background and experience. No audition is required. She can be reached by e-mail at or by calling 864-388-8662.
