Lander music graduate will return to perform in a recital honoring a retired Lander educator

March 16, 2010

Lander University's Department of Music will present the first Ann Mason Hutto Memorial Recital on Thursday, March 25, at 8 p.m., in the Josephine B. Abney Cultural Center Auditorium. The recital will feature soprano Amanda Hurren Jones who received her music degree from Lander in 2001, and a master's in vocal performance from the University of Massachusetts in 2007.

Ann Hutto was a member of Lander's music faculty for 35 years and, early in her music career, she was a singer with the Fred Waring Orchestra. She also sang in several operas, including Rigoletto, and Carmen, and appeared in musical productions at Greenwood Community Theatre.

Sponsored by Dex, publisher of the Embarq Yellow Pages, the concert is free and open to the public. For information, call Lander's College of Arts and Humanities at 864-388-8323. Information about other upcoming Lander arts events is available on the university's Web site,
