Peer Tutoring

Tutoring Services Button

The Academic Success Center (ASC) is looking forward to helping you better achieve your academic goals through the Peer Tutoring Program. The Peer Tutoring Program is designed to provide supplemental instruction to currently enrolled Lander University students who may struggle in a particular academic area. Tutoring sessions are free and appointments may be made on an individualized or group setting. Sign up for a tutor.

Where are you located?
We are located in Genesis Hall, across from Chipley Hall and the Science building.

How much does Tutoring cost?
Tutoring is a free service offered to all currently enrolled Lander University Students.

What subjects are typically covered through the Peer Tutoring Program?
Let’s face it; most students do not excel in every subject matter. This is especially true in general education courses. Although we do offer free tutoring in every subject matter, students tend to use our services for general education courses such as; mathematics, sciences, behavioral sciences, Political Economy, and History. If you are in need of a tutor for a specific subject that is not currently offered through tutoring, contact the tutoring coordinator for assistance.

How do I make a tutoring appointment?
To make an appointment please log onto your MyLander account and click on the Academic Services tab. In the lower right hand corner of the page, information is given about the Academic Success Center. Click on the third bullet point labeled “tutor sign-up”. This link will take you to our online tutoring schedule. If you are a first time user you will need to register. This link is located at the bottom left hand corner. Once you are registered, pick the subject desired and make an appointment.

How do I become a tutor?

Peer Tutors must meet the following criteria:

  6. Be extremely dependable and punctual.

All applicants must complete a Peer Tutor Application and return it to the Tutoring Coordinator. An appointment for an interview must also be made.
