South Carolina Arts Education Summit 2007
On March 22-23, 2007, the South Carolina Alliance for Arts Education, at the behest of the South Carolina State Department of Education, will hold the Second Arts Education Summit. ant event. This summit will serve as an update and continuation of the work begun with the first Arts Education Summit of May 2001, during which leaders from arts education schools, organizations, and agencies from across the state were brought together to participate in a dialog to determine where we were and where we wanted like to go with arts education initiatives in South Carolina.  The summit will be held in Columbia, SC, on Thursday, March 22 and Friday, March 23.

Over the past five years, the resulting strategic plan of the 2001 Arts Education Summit has served the arts education community well by helping to focus and coordinate efforts to continue to provide and improve quality arts education for all children in South Carolina. The time has now come to reassess our progress by once again holding a dialog concerning the current state of arts education in South Carolina and where efforts need to be focused in order that the momentum of the past thirty years not be lost.
