New Student Advisor Assignment

 

The College Dean of your major will initially be assigned as your academic advisor.  Once classes have begun, a faculty member will replace the College Dean as your advisor.

 

 

Freshmen

 

Fall Semester - To assist new first-time freshmen students, the Registrar's Office will create the first semester class schedule prior to a required summer orientation attendance. Until that time, a registration hold will be applied preventing registration. Courses will be chosen based on the major provided by the student's admission application and in accordance with the four year major guides.  Students will be able tomake changes to their class schedule during and after attendance to summer orientation.  Orientation will offer tips on how to become a successful college student, the ability to meet with an advisor and receive their class schedule, take required course placement testing, learn about the many opportunities Lander has to offer and begin to build life-long friendships.  Summer orientation informaton will be mailed to accepted first-time freshmen in April.  For specific information contact the Student Activities Office, 864.388.8244.

 

Spring Semester - Students should seek advisement prior to registration.  Advisement can be accomplished by telephone contact.  Students are strongly encouraged to review the four year major guides for course choices prior to advisement and registration.

Transfers and Readmits

 

Students are assigned to the college dean of their major and should seek advisement prior to registration. Advisement can be accomplished by telephone contact

 

Transfer Evaluations- All coursework is evaluated and posted for review on your academic transcript in Bearcat Web through the following links: Student & Financial Aid, Students, Student Records and then Academic Transcript.  If the transfer evaluation have not been completed by the time you register and you encounter registration error, please contact the Office of the Registrar at 864-388-8503 or at registrar@lander.edu.

 

Undergraduate non-degree

 

Undergraduate non-degree students should seek advisement by contacting Ann Hare, Dean and Director of the Library, Jackson Library 214, 864-388-8035, prior to registration.

 

Graduate Level

 

Degree-seeking students- Students must seek advisement by contacting the Graduate Studies Office, prior to registration, Learning Center 222, 864-388-8225. An advising hold which prevents registration has been applied and is lifted upon seeking advisement.  If you wish to enroll in undergraduate level courses, you must contact the Office of the Registrar 864-388-8503.

 

Non-degree students -Students should seek advisement by contacting the Graduate Studies Office, prior to registration, Learning Center 222, 864-388-8225. If you wish to enroll in an undergraduate level course, you must contact the Office of the Registrar 864-388-8503.
