Programs of Study
The Department of
Political and Social Sciences offers coursework in anthropology, criminal justice,
political science, and sociology leading to a bachelor's degree.
We offer an undergraduate degree in political science and sociology with a choice of two emphases--criminal justice (for sociology students) and public administration (for political science students). We also offer a minor in international studies and an online degree for law enforcement officers in criminal justice management. One of our faculty members also serves as the pre-law advisor for students interested in law school.
Specific Academic Programs
Our students have a variety of academic options to pursue:
Political Science
-- B.S. in Political Science
-- B.S. in Political Science with a public administration emphasis
-- B.S. in Political Science with an international studies minor
Coursework includes classes in American politics, international politics, public administration, and political theory.
Sociology
-- B.S. in Sociology
-- B.S. in Sociology with a criminal justice emphasis
Coursework includes classes about social movements, social welfare programs, race and ethnic relations, prisons, and how society relates to health and the law.
Criminal Justice Management
-- B.S. in Criminal Justice Management
Lander's Criminal Justice Management program is an online bachelor's degree program offered to those who have an associate's degree, preferably in criminal justice, and who have two years of law enforcement experience and/or who are employed as an officer at the time of entering the program.
