Presidential Search Committee Continues Selection Process

January 23, 2015

Lander University’s Presidential Search Committee met on Wednesday, Jan. 21, to continue the process of selecting a new president who will become the 13th chief executive officer in the university’s 142-year history.

The new president will succeed Dr. Daniel Ball, who intends to retire effective June 30, 2015, bringing to a close his 15-year tenure as Lander’s president.

George Starnes, chair of the 12-member Search Committee and vice chair of Lander’s Board of Trustees, said the meeting was focused on beginning the process of reviewing and evaluating potential candidates for the president’s position. He added, “From this point forward, we will meet on a regular basis until the committee is prepared to submit a final list of applicants to the Board of Trustees.” The trustees will conduct the next phase of the selection process and appoint the new president.

The executive search firm of Coleman Lew + Associates, of Charlotte, N.C., is assisting the Search Committee and Board of Trustees in selecting potential candidates.
