ANTHONY LENTI holds the rank of Professor Emeritus in the Department of Music. A long-time member of the Lander University faculty, Dr. Lenti's teaching specialties are piano and music history. He has been the recipient of both the Lander Distinguished Professor Award and the South Carolina Governor's Distinguished Professor Award. Educated at the Eastman School of Music, Dr. Lenti holds bachelors, masters, and doctoral degrees in piano performance and music literature. In addition, he studied and performed in Italy for a year under the sponsorship of a private foundation.


Dr. Lenti and his wife have performed for more than three decades as The Lenti Piano Duo. They have been heard in twenty-one of the United States, as well as in more distant locations such as London, Milan, Warsaw, and Bermuda. ACA Digital Recording has issued four compact discs of the Lentis; these are distributed internationally by Albany Music Distributors. Selections from their recordings are heard frequently on public radio broadcasts throughout the United States.


The Lentis have lectured frequently before teacher organizations nation-wide on topics of piano literature and pedagogy. On four occasions they have addressed National Conferences of the Music Teachers National Association. The Lenti Duo was the recipient of the Artist Fellowship of the South Carolina Arts Commission, as well as Artists' Grants. During their fellowship year the Lentis played in nearly two dozen rural communities throughout South Carolina. They were also featured on a profile hosted by Beryl Dakers on South Carolina Public Television. For twelve years the Lentis served as the piano faculty of the Summer Honors Program of the South Carolina Governor's School for the Arts. During the same period they served as the piano ensemble faculty of the Chamber Music Conference of the Interlochen Center for the Arts in Michigan.


Dr. Lenti holds membership in a number of professional organizations including the Music Teachers National Association (MTNA), Music Educators National Conference (MENC), and the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (NARAS). He has been an adjudicator for the South Carolina Music Teachers Association for more than thirty years and has served as President of the Piano Division of the South Carolina Music Educators Association for nearly twenty years. The Lentis have two sons, three dogs, three cats, and five pianos.
