Honors Programs

Mathematics

The Mathematics Honors Program is designed to challenge the more capable student to perform to a higher standard and to learn in a more independent mode. To qualify for the designation "B.S. Degree with Honors", the student must accomplish the following.

  • Have a grade point ratio of at least 3.5 in both overall course work and in mathematics course work.
  • Complete the requirements for the mathematics degree.
  • Complete the following courses: MATH 322, MATH 351, MATH 412, and two computer science courses chosen from: CIS 231, CIS 235, CIS 330, and CIS 340.
  • Complete 6 semester hours of a college-level language.
  • Complete an approved research project. This involves writing a proposal, conducting the appropriate investigation or research, and reporting the findings or outcomes.
