Assistant Professor of Broadcast Journalism
Lander University, a public comprehensive university in the upstate region of South Carolina,
seeks a tenure-track assistant professor to teach broadcasting in the Department of Mass
Communication and Theatre. The starting date is January 2010 or August 2010.
Position: Assistant Professor of Broadcast Journalism.
Required: This person is expected to have an expertise in broadcasting and a
commitment to converged media studies. A doctorate or a terminal master’s degree in Mass
Communication or related area is required. Evidence of teaching effectiveness at the
university level is desirable, as are recent professional experience in broadcast and experience
with current media technologies. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated expertise in new
technologies and must be student-oriented and committed to engaging students in experiential
learning.
Responsibilities: The candidate must be able to teach a mix of lower and
upper level courses in radio and television, as well as general media courses, and is expected to
engage in academic advising, service to the institution and to the academic discipline, and
scholarly research and/or creative activities.
