Biopredation – Rodent/Insect Infestation

 

Immediate Response:

 

• Contact the librarian working or call a librarian at home.

• The librarian will notify the Collection Salvage Team Leader (Mike Berry).   Infected materials will be removed from area if this is a “minor” Disaster (1100 items), using plastic bags or other appropriate means.

• The Collection Salvage Team leader will involve Physical Plant’s custodial staff and recovery team to arrange for proper treatment of infected materials.

 

Secondary Response:

 

• If the Biopredation issue is a danger to patrons, a decision about closing should be made by a librarian. Call University Police to close the building. If safe to do so, the University Police should do a walk through of the library on all three floors before locking the doors.

• For the Dean, note 1) when the biopredation was first seen, 2) when or if the library was closed, 3) the number of students in the library when it was closed, and 4) who was contacted.
