Q: What is my Blackboard User Name and Password? Please note: This information is true only if you are logging in directly to Blackboard.
A: Students - Your Blackboard User Name is the prefix of your NEW Lander student email address. For example, if your new Lander student email address is sarah.field@lander.edu , your User Name is sarah.field. Your Password is your Bearcat PIN number.
- If you do not know your NEW Lander student email address, please log on to Bearcat Web. Select the Personal Information tab, and then choose the link that reads View Email Addresses. Your new Lander student email address is displayed here.
Faculty - Your Blackboard User Name is the prefix your Lander email address. For example, if your Lander email address is jprofessor@lander.edu , your User Name is jprofessor. Your Password is your Bearcat PIN number.
Q: How do I access Blackboard through the MyLander portal?

Q: I cannot log into Blackboard. What can I do?
A: Run "Check Browser" at the log in page. If you see a red X by any item, you need to update that item.

A: If you have older versions of Java installed on your computer, you may need to "Clear the Java Cache" so CE 6 will work properly.

Q: I can log in to Blackboard but I cannot open any files my professor has made available.
A: The Goldbar (or Yellowbar) is blocking the file from downloading or opening.

Q: I saved the Blackboard login page as a "Favorite" or "Bookmark" but I cannot log in to CE 6 from the link. What is wrong?
A: Most likely, the link was added to Favorites or Bookmarks after clicking on "Log In."
- To resolve the issue, enter CE 6 from the link off of Lander's homepage
- Or, delete the Favorite or Bookmark and save it again before clicking on "Log In."
Q: I am using Word 2007. My classmates and professors cannot open my file. What can I do?
A: The default file extension in Word 2007 is .docx. Earlier versions of Word such as Word 97-2003 will not open this file. You need to save the file as a .doc file. You can also change the default setting for saving a Word 2007 document as a .doc file.
