New Computer Purchase Procedures
Information Technology Services recommends replacing computers every 3 to 4 years. This can vary depending on the requirement of the user and the type of machine. Laptops should be rotated every 3 years due to the nature of laptop usage while most desktops can go 4 years if the processor is not outdated.
If you feel that your machine is not able to handles the programs you are running or if you are not certain of the computers age, ITS will review your system and make a recommendation as to what action needs to be taken. If the computer needs replacing, please contact Wayne McMahan via email to request a system quote. We will contact you to review your needs and send you a quote via email that is approved. Each department is responsible financially for the replacement of computer equipment with the exception of faculty laptops. The Lottery Technology Fund provides laptops to faculty members on a 3 year rotation.
