Frequently Asked Questions

How do I log in to the computers in the labs?
In order to use the Student Computer Labs, you must first obtain your user name listed under the "Personal Information" section in Bearcat Web.  Click on “View E-mail Addresses” where your e-mail address will be listed.  The first part of your Lander University issued e-mail address is your user name. For example, goconnor@student.lander.edu = goconnor.

As of May 9, 2006 the default password for students is your birth date in the form of yyyymmdd .  For example, someone born on May 6, 1986 would have a default password of 19860506.  It is strongly recommended that you change your password when you first log into your account.

How do I change my password?
There are two ways to change your Lander issued e-mail/computer network username.
  1. If you wish to change your password in one of the Student Computer Labs, first log in to a computer.  After you have logged in, press Ctrl-Alt-Delete.  Next click " Change Password...".  You will be prompted to enter in your old password and type your new password two times.  Your password must be at least 6 characters in length.  REMEMBER your password!  If you forget your password, you will have to see the Instructional Technology Manager.  Passwords are case-sensitive, if you type in UPPERCASE letters, then every time you wish to use a computer you must type in all UPPERCASE letters.
