Assistant
Professor of History and Coordinator of Secondary Education
Lander University, a public comprehensive university in the upstate region of South Carolina, seeks an assistant professor to direct the social studies education program. The position is tenure track. The starting date is August, 2010.
Position: Assistant Professor of History and Coordinator of Social Studies Education
Required: Ph.D. or Ed.D. in Curriculum and Instruction with emphasis or background in History and Social Studies Education or Ph.D. in History with a strong background in Secondary Education. Field of history teaching specialty open. The applicant must be qualified to direct the teacher education program in social studies, have licensure to teach in secondary schools and three years of secondary teaching experience. Experience with N.C.S.S. accreditation procedures for teacher education programs is desirable. Applicants must have ability to use computer technology to support teaching and scholarship.
Responsibilities: Teach upper and lower level history courses, teach methods of teaching social studies; direct student teachers; coordinate the secondary social studies teacher education program, and advise social studies/secondary education majors. Effective teaching, scholarship and service are expected of all Lander faculty members.
