Homecoming Tailgating Guidelines

A signature tradition of every Lander Homecoming is Saturday tailgating! It’s the perfect setting for pre-game activities, where alumni of all ages join with current students for great food and fellowship on the campus front lawn.

Participating groups, organizations and attendees are expected to follow these guidelines and procedures so that all guests can enjoy the Homecoming Tailgate Zone safely and responsibly.

  • Any group of 15 or more Alumni must register a tailgating space with the Alumni Office by submitting this registration form.
  • Students and student groups must register for tailgating using the Homecoming Entry form located on the Packet and Resources tab. Students may contact Dr. Demario Watts, dwatts@lander.edu, for questions.
  • Organizations, groups, and individuals may begin setting up at 8:00 am on Saturday, February 10, 2024. Tailgating officially starts at 10:00 am.
  • Parking lots on the linked map are designated for parking, small group tailgating (less than 15 alumni), and large group tailgating (15 or more alumni). As large groups register for spaces, the map will be updated to reflect changes.
  • All small group and individual spaces are first-come, first-served.
  • You may bring your own tent.
  • Stakes may not be used for tents. Tents must be freestanding or weighed down.
  • No additional music or speakers may be used during this time.
  • No grills on grass areas (exception for areas marked as “Group Tailgating Spaces”).
  • No smoking, vaping or use of tobacco products is allowed.
  • Students, faculty, staff, alumni, and guests must follow all local, state, and federal laws, as well as University policies and procedures.
  • Students, faculty, staff, alumni, and guests must comply with University officials.
  • Tailgating officially ends at 5:00 pm. All spaces must be cleaned and cleared by 6:00 pm.

All tailgating plans are subject to the university’s approval; these policies may be altered to ensure the safety of participants or for the protection of university property.
