The Department of Teacher Education prides itself on developing Professional Educators.

 

The primary mission of the Lander University Department of Teacher Education is the development of each student as Professional Educators.  In an ethical, caring environment, the Professional Education Unit seeks to empower and encourage students to become competent professionals, lifelong learners and responsible citizens.  The programs within the Unit are designed to help students gain knowledge, skills and dispositions that characterize Professional Educators.  All Teacher Education Programs are recognized by the Specialty Professional Association and the University is accredited by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE).

 

All teacher education programs at Lander University are guided by Lander's conceptual framework for teacher education.  This framework provides direction for programs, courses, teaching and teacher candidate assessment.
