  • Lander group in Thailand for international academic conference

    A delegation of Lander University faculty members and administrators are in Thailand for an international conference on Technology and Innovation Development for Sustainability. The conference is sponsored by Rajamangala University of Technology Phra Nkhon in Bangkok, which is one of Lander's 11 sister institutions of higher education in Thailand, South Korea and China. Lander is also co-sponsoring the event.
  • Greenwood-area students learn about forensics at Lander camp

    Local students who are attending a forensics camp at Lander University this week are hearing from an expert on a key portion of the subject. Dr. Jeff Burkes, of Greenwood, a retired dentist and former professor at the University of North Carolina School of Dentistry and School of Medicine, shared his knowledge of forensic odontology, the science of using dental structures and other characteristics in the identification of unknown human remains and bite marks.

  • Lander and Fuji introduce local students to different scientific fields

    Lander University is playing host to young, would-be scientists during the annual Fuji Summer Science and Math Enrichment program. A class called The Magic of Chemistry attracted 22 students, rising 6th- through 9th-graders, who spent a week exploring a variety of chemical topics under the supervision of Dr. David Slimmer, dean of Lander's College of Science and Mathematics, and Dr. Ralph Layland, chair of the Department of Physical Sciences.

  • Lander graduate artists to be featured in upcoming exhibit

    Lander University is preparing to open an art exhibit featuring works by graduates of the university's Master of Arts in Teaching in art education program. The exhibit, which will open with a reception from 6 to 8 p.m., on Friday, June 21, will be on display in Lander's Monsanto Gallery through Aug. 1.
