  • Steve Grogan announces his retirement after 21 years in key Lander positions

    When former basketball player Steve Grogan graduated from Lander in 1980, his main goal was to somehow get a job back on the campus he loved so much. And he eventually made it back. After nearly 15 years working as a teacher, coach and administrator in the Aiken County School District, Grogan returned to Lander as the Director of Career Services in 1995. Now, 21 years and two other key Lander positions later, Grogan has announced he will retire on August 31.
  • Lander Professor Joins Research Team to Prepare S.C. Coastal Regions for Climate Change Effects

    Dr. Daniel M. Harrison of Lander University will team with civil engineer professors from Clemson University in a study designed to protect South Carolina’s coastal water infrastructure from the effects of climate change.

    Approximately 285 students will receive their degrees when Lander University conducts its spring commencement on Saturday, April 30. The ceremony will be held in the Finis Horne Arena beginning at 11 a.m.

    Bob Stoner will retire this summer as Lander University’s first and only Sports Information Director (SID), capping a 28-year career at the university.

  • Thomas Steals Show at Lander Film Festival

    The biggest winner at the 7th Annual Lander Film Festival was “Finch’s Landing,” an imagining of Harper Lee character Atticus Finch as a boy. The film, by Sam Thomas, of Abbeville, won first place in the hotly contested Open Division. It also won the Director’s Choice Award.

  • Students Take Center Stage in Wind Ensemble Show

    The Lander University Wind Ensemble’s Tuesday, April 12 show, will be a platform for some of the area’s most talented student musicians. The concert starts at 8 p.m. in the Josephine B. Abney Cultural Center Auditorium. Admission is free.
  • Lander Transfer Week is April 18-22

    Lander University has scheduled its Spring Transfer Week for April 18-22, and students interested in transferring to the university can get a jumpstart on the process by registering now for an appointment. “Transfer Week is designed to give prospective transfer students an opportunity to visit campus, learn about our programs, and discuss admissions requirements and financial aid options,” said Chase Cooley, Lander’s transfer admissions counselor. “It’s a one-stop shop that makes transferring to Lander as easy as possible.”
