  • Lander Trustees elect new officers and approve new fiscal year budget

    Approval of the operating budget for the 2017-18 fiscal year and election of board officers were among recent actions taken by the Lander University Board of Trustees this week. The board voted on officers during the midday meeting resulting in Dr. Linda Dolny named as the new Chair of the Board of Trustees; Gary Corbitt, Vice-Chair and Catherine Lee Frederick, Secretary.

    Members of the Lander University family, including many LUPD officers, attended the June 6 memorial service at the Anderson Civic Center for fallen Anderson County Sheriff’s Deputy and former Lander University Police Officer Devin Hodges.

    Funeral services for Deputy Hodges will be held at the Civic Center on Tuesday, June 6, at 1 p.m., followed by a processional to the Oak Brook Cemetery, on U.S. 25 in Greenwood, where Hodges will be laid to rest.
  • Lander University Appoints Interim Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs

    Lander University announced today that Dr. Suzanne Ozment, an accomplished and respected educator known throughout the Southeast, has been appointed to serve as the university’s interim Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs. She will begin her duties at Lander on July 1, as the university conducts a nationwide search for a permanent provost.

    Greenwood is one of many U.S. cities in the path of a rare coast-to-coast solar eclipse coming on August 21 – and Lander University will be a prime place to witness it. Whether it’s using a sunspotter, making a pinhole projector, or viewing the entire 2.5 minutes of totality from the university’s front lawn, students, faculty and staff will find plenty of activities to keep their interest.

    Registration to take part in Lander University’s summer Science and Math program for students in grades five through 12 is available through May 31.
  • Samuel Lander Golf Classic Returns for Fourth Year

    Lander University is accepting registrations for the 4th Annual Samuel Lander Golf Classic at The Links at Stoney Point, on Tuesday, June 27. The registration fee is $150 per player and $500 for a foursome. Fees pay for 18 holes of golf, a cart, practice balls, a golf shirt, and meals before and after the tournament.
  • Lander Presents 2017 Staff Excellence Awards

    Five Lander University employees were honored for their work during the annual Staff Excellence Awards breakfast on Tuesday, May 9. The awards are presented to staff members who demonstrate outstanding dedication to their work and exemplify the university’s family spirit. Winners are selected on the basis of nomination by their co-workers.
