  • Lander Presents 2017 Staff Excellence Awards

    Five Lander University employees were honored for their work during the annual Staff Excellence Awards breakfast on Tuesday, May 9. The awards are presented to staff members who demonstrate outstanding dedication to their work and exemplify the university’s family spirit. Winners are selected on the basis of nomination by their co-workers.
  • New bench honors early Lander Trustee

    May 10, 2017
    Great-granddaughter of George Washington Sullivan, one of the school’s earliest influences, led the effort in placing a new bench in his honor on the gazebo lawn in front of the Laura Lander Hall tower, with a plaque inscription that reads: Geo W. Sullivan, Lander Trustee 1888 to 1929, Chair 1901-1926.
  • Lander Confers More Than 270 Degrees During Spring Graduation

    Lander University conferred more than 270 degrees during its 155th commencement ceremony on Saturday, May 6, in Finis Horne Arena. Representing the spring class were students from China, the United Kingdom, France, Guatemala, Venezuela, Switzerland, Croatia and the Czech Republic – and 10 U.S. states including California, New York, Maine, Illinois and Ohio.
  • Lander Offers SAT Prep Course for High School Students

    Lander University will host an intense fast-paced SAT prep course for high school students July 14 – August 4. Enrollment for the course, which is called SAT PRO, is strictly limited to 15 students.
  • Lander Psychology Students Earn First Place Honors for Research

    Kendra Tamaklo, a senior psychology student from Anderson, placed first among 46 poster presentations during the Georgia Undergraduate Research in Psychology Conference at Kennesaw State University on April 15. For her project, “Pledging to the flag: Factors that influence identification and attitudes,” she developed an online survey to collect people’s opinions of the Confederate flag.
  • Greek orgs put last touches on second Lander Habitat house

    Lander University’s second Habitat home is almost ready – thanks in part to some ‘sweat equity’ this spring by the school’s Greek organizations. About 40 members of all seven Greek chapters showed up April 12 during a campus-wide picnic-build event to help complete the last phase of home construction.
  • Lander retirees return for annual brunch

    More than 40 people returned to Lander University in mid-April for the annual Retirees Brunch in honor of their years of service to the school – and whether they came from near or far, everyone enjoyed good food, reconnecting with old friends and sharing memories, and hearing the latest on school developments.
  • Lander employees honored during Alumni Week

    It’s a new tradition that could soon catch on – as 33 of Lander University’s staff showed up April 18 at the school’s alumni employee breakfast. Held in the Dawson Room of the Lander Dining Hall, the breakfast honored Lander alumni, who are also employees, during Alumni Appreciation Week.
  • Lander Graduate Moore Receives Top Academic Award

    Melissa Williams Moore, of Greenwood, received Lander University’s Thayer Award in recognition of her achievement of graduating in December with the highest scholastic average of any student in her class.
