Dear Prospective Student,
I am delighted that you are interested in our programs at Lander. The College of Arts & Humanities offers majors in art, music, mass communication and theatre, English, Spanish and history. We also offer minors in all the major programs as well as philosophy, French, dance, art history, Latin American studies and electronic art. Our faculty prides itself on excellence in teaching and a close, caring approach to working with our students. As you look at our programs, you will see many opportunities for you to learn and grow: study tours each year to cultural centers in Europe, intensive six-week Spanish immersion programs in Spain, study tours to Latin America, and semester abroad programs in your major in colleges in England or Germany. In addition, scholarships are available in each of our majors, and we invite you to apply.
All our academic majors have student chapters of professional organizations or clubs that you can join and perhaps lead one day. Our performing arts ensembles are open to all students regardless of major or minor. These include the Lander Dance Company, University Singers, Old Main Singers, the Jazz Band, the Pep Band, the Brass Ensemble and the Wind Ensemble. You may also want to audition for any of the several plays we stage each year. Writers, photographers and artists can find an outlet for their creativity through our literary journals and The Forum, our weekly student newspaper.
