ATTENTION: Students on Academic Probation... Don't jeopardize your financial aid !
All students on academic probation are encouraged to see their advisor or Gay Coleman, LC 340, for advice on classes to repeat and calculation of grades needed to avoid suspension or to get off of probation.
History: The Student Academic Success Program was conceived during the summer of 1995 out of the need for an active retention program. We wanted a program that would target the students on academic probation. We chose three GPA cut-offs for three levels of intervention. As the levels of GPA’s decreased, the amount of intervention increased. Each year slight adjustments were made to these cut-off levels and the specific interventions required.
Current Practice: Currently, students who are on academic probation but have a GPA of 1.9 or higher will be invited, but not required, to participate in SASP. They are encouraged to work closely with their advisors, repeat courses in which they failed (or made a ‘D’), and use the tutoring center.
