Lander University, a coeducational, state-assisted, comprehensive four-year university seeks qualified applicants for the following two tenure-track positions in the Art Department.
Art Department Chair
The Department Chair of Art will provide effective intellectual, creative and administrative leadership for the department. Candidates should be artists and scholars who have significant experience and achievement within their field, administrative experience, and be interested in taking on a leadership and mentoring role. The candidate must also possess a commitment to departmental growth, development and visibility in the university, community and beyond.
This position's status is a full-time, tenure-track, administrative and teaching faculty position reporting to the Dean of the College of Arts and Humanities.
Studio Faculty
The studio art position will be filled by a versatile candidate who will teach three undergraduate courses a semester, oversee independent studies and advise students. The candidate will also interact with the academic community; engage in professional, creative, and scholarly activities; and engage in institutional and community service.
This position's status is a full-time, tenure-track, teaching faculty position reporting to the Chair of the Art Department.
Candidates for both positions are required to possess:

an earned MFA or terminal degree from an accredited college or university
-
an established record of artistic achievement
-
excellent communication skills
-
significant teaching experience
-
interest in the integration of digital technologies within the classroom
-
the ability to teach fundamental drawing and design courses as well as courses in their field of expertise such as painting, sculpture, printmaking, etc.
These positions include competitve salaries and benefits packages. Salaries commensurate with qualifications and experience. Starting date August 2010. Review of applications will begin December 1, 2009 and continue until positions are filled.
