Presidential Ambassadors

The Presidential Ambassadors program is a scholarship opportunity for students who display leadership skills and pride in being Lander students. These traits are gauged through an interview process and displayed by the student through high academic achievement. As the face of Lander University, the Presidential Ambassadors are often the first people one meets when visiting the school. The Presidential Ambassadors give tours to prospective students, welcome visitors who are attending performances, and work in the Office of Admissions. They are an exceptional group of students, and you can meet all of them on this page.

As I began my transfer process from Spartanburg Methodist College, I was looking for a new atmosphere that gave me the same family and close community feel. So my reason for choosing Lander was simple I loved everything about it; Student life, small classes, the family atmosphere, student teacher relationships, being close to home and having the opportunity to expand. Lander University allows student to use their experiences to address real world issues. This challenges us and prepares me for life after college.

When I was in high school, my brother was attending Lander University. He was very active here and I had many occasions to visit the campus. The more I visited the more I came to like Lander. I like the smaller campus and smaller classrooms. The university has more of a tight- knit community feel. I started taking tours and visiting open house and that feeling kept coming to me, and I loved it. Finally I applied and was accepted, and that’s when I got an even better surprise. As a student from Georgia I was facing out of state tuition and not being able to use my HOPE scholarship money if I came to Lander. Apparently someone realized this and I received a scholarship that I didn’t even apply for. The scholarship waived out of state tuition and gave me what HOPE would have given. I couldn’t think of any other college that would do that for a prospective student. The choice was clear, Lander was the school for me.

I originally chose Lander because of the small size and the high demand nursing program. Once I decided to officially attend Lander; I knew that I had made the right choice by my first experience as a freshman at Expo. The faculty, staff, and upperclassmen students made me feel right at home. I have become more social and have increased my leadership skills by being involved in the Presidential Ambassador Program, Gospel Choir, and Lander University’s Student Nurses Association. Lander provides such a friendly and comfortable atmosphere that allows much success for the students. The classroom size is perfect for a successful learning environment.
