SAT Doctor - Spring 2015 - February 3-March 5
WILL TAKING THIS COURSE IMPROVE MY SCORES? WHAT WILL BE COVERED IN CLASS?
What you get out of the process depends on how much you put into it. Students who complete an SAT prep course usually see an improvement of 100 points or more. The outcome rests on how much attention you devote to our class sessions and how much energy you put into out-of-class preparation. The intructors, Dr. Craton and Ms. Gina Dunn, will assign extra practice between sessions. You are encouraged to continue your review after the course has concluded. You will also receive a book with flash cards and other tools for long-term practice. As part of the course, we will discuss how many times you should take the SAT and how to maximize your overall score between now and your college application deadlines.
Our course will focus on test-taking strategies and will also review key math, critical reading and writing concepts that are covered on the exam. We will look at how the SAT is written to develop a targeted approach for each question type. We will discuss when to guess and how much time to use on each part of the process. We will find alternative ways to solve tricky questions and also devote a little time discussing the college admissions process. Lander admissions officers will pay us a visit to provide an insider’s look at how your college application is evaluated.
*NOTE: SAT Doctor students must register separately for the SAT.
