Grow Beyond the Classroom
The Honors College challenges you to learn, not just in the classroom, but beyond. You will select a “breakaway” experience that fits your life, interests and career goals. Lander’s knowledgeable faculty will help find the right experience for you; but whatever you choose, your “breakaway” gives you an edge for graduate school or career searches.
You might decide to spend a semester abroad at one of Lander’s partner schools. Many students take advantage of our low-cost exchange program at the University of Winchester in England. Others have studied or worked in Korea, South America, Thailand, Spain, France and Italy.
Or, maybe you’ll complete an internship. Honors students often participate in the prestigious Semester in Washington program. Living in a townhouse near Capitol Hill and interning in congressional offices or the Smithsonian, these students earn Lander course credit while building remarkable résumés. Other Honors students seek out internship opportunities a little closer to home.
Perhaps you’ll take on a research project of your own. Recently, Lander students contributed to a NASA grant project, attended a prestigious summer seminar in California, and participated in academic and professional conferences. Honors students are often featured in Lander’s annual academic showcase, which provides students an opportunity to publicly display and present outstanding original work created during that academic year.
As you finish your education, the Honors faculty can help you process what you learned and market your new credentials. On and off campus, students of the Lander University Honors College get the support, encouragement and opportunity they need to thrive.
