  • University business student receives Alumni Departmental Scholarship

    Lander University business administration major Janza Walker of Inman, has been awarded a scholarship by Lander’s Department of Business Administration. Walker, pictured right, received the Alumni Departmental Scholarship, one of 14 provided annually to each of the university’s academic departments by the Lander University Alumni Association.   • University business student receives Abbeville Savings and Loan Scholarship

    Lander University student Meredith Milner, of Abbeville, a business administration major with marketing/management emphasis, has received the Abbeville Savings & Loan Scholarship. Established in 2005, the scholarship provides financial assistance to a junior or senior business major from Abbeville or Greenwood counties.   • University Releases Spring Magazine

    The Lander Magazine is a publication distributed primarily to alumni, donors and friends of the university to inform them of recent Lander activities and the accomplishments of faculty, staff, students and alumni. Started in 1972, the magazine is produced with diligent consideration by the Office of University Relations two times each year, with issues in spring and fall.

  • New Asia Initiative

    Dr. Sung-Jae Park, recently retired from an international program leadership position at Ball State University, is now leading an Asia initiative for Lander University. He will develop strategies that will encourage students from Japan, Korea, China, and India to study at Lander for one or two years as a part of their degree programs. Dr. Park will also create some additional study abroad opportunities in Asia for Lander students.

  • Business students collect cans for Greenwood Food Bank

    Now that the holiday season is well under way, there is no shortage food and toy donation drives to help those who are less fortunate. This spirit of giving is very much alive on the Lander University campus. In one instance a Lander professor is rewarding students for their generosity. Pictured with students from her Legal Environmental Business class, Lander assistant professor of business Dr. Gail Moore, left, offered students five points of extra credit on an upcoming test in exchange for their donation to the Greenwood Food Bank. The class collected nearly 450 cans and other food items for donation.

  • Lander business honor society earns premier designation

    Lander University's chapter of Beta Gamma Sigma (BGS), the honor society for business students, has been proclaimed a Premier Chapter by the Board of Governors of the international organization. In a letter to Dr. Doug Grider, interim dean of Lander's College of Business and Public Affairs, international BGS president Robert Reid said, "This is a significant achievement and indicates a high value is placed on scholarship recognition at Lander."

  • Lander University business students receive McFerrin Scholarship

    A group of Lander University business students recently received the Cecil J. and Jean T. McFerrin Scholarship, established in 1988 by Jean and Cecil McFerrin. Jean McFerrin, a 1948 Lander graduate, maintained close ties with her alma mater and held positions with the Lander Alumni Association, The Lander Foundation and the Lander Board of Trustees.
