Why Lander? Why Business?
The School of Management at Lander University is proud to offer a business program accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB). Our AACSB accreditation is a valuable asset to our business program and is indicative of our ability to offer a high quality business education in a small-school environment. Accreditation is a voluntary process that includes an external review of a school's ability to provide quality programs. AACSB is the premier accrediting body and AACSB Accreditation is known worldwide as the longest standing, most recognized form of professional accreditation an institution and its business program can earn. Only approximately 5 percent of the schools in the world hold AACSB Accreditation and very few small "undergraduate only" universities like Lander have attained this designation.
Our mission is "To prepare students for positions of leadership and responsibility" and our faculty and entire department are committed to fulfilling that mission. We believe our graduates can and will become successful business leaders.
The faculty of the Business Department is composed of both academicians and experienced business men and women. We understand the skills and knowledge required to be successful in today's business world. We have set high standards to ensure our students have those skills as well as the required knowledge base when they graduate from our program.
Our department is also focused on providing our students with exposure to the "real world" of business through interaction with businesses, business owners, successful alumni, and government and not-for-profit organizations. This interaction comes in many forms including guest speakers, internships, networking with business men and women in a social environment and project management classes that include real projects for real business organizations. We believe this exposure to real world business is critical in enabling our students to obtain jobs and perform successfully upon graduation.
The small size of our classes allows our faculty to provide more personal attention to our students and develop more personal relationships. Faculty involvement in student activities further develops those relationships. We find as faculty that we are not only teachers but we become trusted advisers.
