  • Student Academic Showcase planned for March 7-8

    Lander University's Second Annual Student Academic Showcase will spotlight excellence in research and creativity during presentations and judging on Wednesday, March 7, and an awards ceremony on Thursday, March 8, at 7:30 p.m. Co-sponsored by Lander's College of Arts and Humanities and Alpha Chi International Honor Society, the showcase will include examples of student scholarship and creativity from the five departments of the College of Arts and Humanities (Art, English and Foreign Languages, History and Philosophy, Mass Communication and Theatre, and Music) as well as from the Social Sciences, the Sciences, Computer Information Systems and Mathematics.

  • Lander Alumni Association announces recipients of three prestigious awards

    The first female general officer in the history of the South Carolina Army National Guard (SCANG); last year's winner of the state's Young Lawyer of the Year award; and the individual whose name adorns Lander University's new sports complex are this year's winners of the Lander Alumni Association's top awards.

  • Miss Lander University 2012 crowned in Mardi Gras-theme pageant

    Talent, beauty and grace were abundant at the annual "Miss Lander University" pageant, held January 23 in Lander's Josephine B. Abney Cultural Center Auditorium. Seven students took to the stage to compete for the crown, and this year's pageant incorporated elements of Mardi Gras, drawing on the theme of Lander's 2012 Homecoming festivities.

  • Lander student lands a spring assignment with a 'think tank' in Washington, D.C.

    Lander University political science major Ryan McNulty will spend his spring semester as an intern with The Heritage Foundation in the nation's capital under terms of the Washington Semester Internship program sponsored by the University of South Carolina Honors College.

  • Greenwood Woman's Club to hold scholarship luncheon

    Tickets are on sale for the annual Greenwood Woman's Club Scholarship Luncheon on Wednesday, Feb. 29, at 11:30 a.m., with proceeds directed to the club's scholarship fund at Lander University. The event will be held in the Johnston Commons in Lander's Student Center and tickets are $25 each.

  • The first female general in S.C. Army National Guard history to deliver Lander commencement address

    Brigadier General Darlene M. Goff, a Lander University graduate and the first woman promoted to general in the history of the South Carolina Army National Guard (SCANG), will deliver the commencement address to 191 degree candidates at Lander's graduation ceremony, Saturday, Dec. 17, at 11 a.m., in the university's Finis Horne Arena.

    A knee injury sidelined student-athlete Ryan McNulty, of Jacksonville, Fla., from playing baseball next spring, but he is not wasting time bemoaning his situation. After finding out that he would be unable to play, he turned his attention to an academic opportunity that will take him on the road to the nation's capital beginning in January.
