Lander artists awarded for entries in annual exhibit

Art Award WinnersEach year Lander University's Department of Art gives students the opportunity to showcase their best work in an annual juried exhibition in the university's Monsanto Gallery. Winners of Lander's 20th Annual Juried Student Exhibition were announced at the exhibit's opening in April. Receiving the Best of Show for his photograph titled "In Case of Death," was Gene Ellenberg of Hodges. Pictured, front row, from left, are: Hali Kitchen of Greenwood, third place for printmaking; Natalia Brown of Mauldin, first place for graphic design; Jennifer Smith of Ware Shoals, third place for painting; and Ali Hammond of Saluda, second place for painting. Second row, from left, are: Nena McConnell of Greenwood, first place for painting and drawing, honorable mention for mixed media; Melissa Humphries of Greenwood, first place for photography and the Exhibitor's Choice award; Minleesha Shell of Columbia (29203), second place for printmaking; and Gabriella Contreras of Due West, second place for sculpture.
