New date for Lander's Chinese language course

Lander University's Continuing Education Office has changed the starting date for the conversational Chinese language program being offered as part of its fall program.

The course will begin on Monday, Oct. 22 and be taught by Qi Lu, a visiting scholar from Shanghai Normal University in China, who is an intern in Lander's Office of Student Affairs, is the instructor.

According to Shelley Grund, Lander's Continuing Education coordinator, the course is designed for beginners to improve their ability to speak Chinese as well as writing and reading skills. It consists of two parts: highly useful conversational Chinese at the beginning of each class and written Chinese emphasizing the basic strokes and rules for writing simplified Chinese characters.
